Valid Sitemap Link
0 Intentional IssuesA page that declares <link rel="sitemap"> correctly, in all three accepted forms. Nothing here is a defect, so link_rel_sitemap must not be reported.
Expected result: link_rel_sitemap NOT DETECTED
The tag is present, the href resolves to a real sitemap, and each declared type is legal. A finding on this page would mean the check is grading the media type against one hardcoded string — the specific false positive its retirement note calls out.
<link rel="sitemap" type="application/xml" href="/sitemap.xml">The exact form the retired check demanded. Read into sitemapLinkUrl, because the selector takes .first().
<link rel="sitemap" type="text/xml" href="/sitemap.xml">Equally valid. text/xml is a registered XML media type and search engines never read this attribute at all.
<link rel="sitemap" href="/sitemap.xml">Also valid. type is an advisory hint on <link>; omitting it changes nothing about how the target is fetched.
Negative counterpart: /head-tag-gaps declares no sitemap link at all, which is the other state the retired check graded. Both are silent, and for the same reason — see /false-positive-fixtures.
